Gordon has an eclectic educational and professional background. His interest in the Sciences led him to a Ph.D in Anatomy from UMDNJ. His medical school students always voted his classes the most popular but computerized medical education was making a debut and Gordon pursued other interests.

Gordon’s teaching career, built upon the entrance of computers to medical education, led him  to marketing computers to physicians. As Marketing Manager at Medix, a subsidiary of Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Gordon foretold the future of Medical Electronic Records becoming the standard in physician’s offices.

Gordon left Medix and started his own company, HAASCO Marketing, LLC. One of his clients was the Elizabeth Development Company where he did freelance marketing. Gordon promoted Hersh Towers in Elizabeth and while a member of the County Chamber of Commerce met Joseph Keenan, then the director or the Elizabeth Public Library.

In 1997, the creation of the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce grew out of this relationship with Joe Keenan. Gordon started the Chamber and currently serves as its CEO/President. Under his leadership, this Chamber is now one of the largest in the State of New Jersey. Gordon has served as member of the planning board since 1993 and now serves as its Chairman. He currently serves on the boards of Groundwork Elizabeth, is a Vice President of the Jewish Family Services of Central New Jersey , he active in many facets of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest, he is currently President of the NJ State Association of Jewish Federations and Chairman of the Elizabeth Development Company.
